A warm welcome to you from Miles State School!
Located in the Western Downs Region and established in 1880, Miles State School is a vital and friendly school catering to students from Prep to Year 6. We currently have approximately 220 students enrolled in the school with a staff of 30 exceptional Teachers, Teacher aides, Cleaners, Groundsman and Admin both in full time and part time capacities.
In 2013 we became one of Queensland's first Independent Public Schools. A trial program for a period of four years, the Independent Public School initiative aims to increase autonomy in decision making, cut red tape and remove layers of management to improve outcomes for students.
We are a leading school and offer additional programs to our students including a Special Education Program (SEP) unit, a gifted and talented co-ordinator, classroom music and instrumental music, as well as beautiful and inviting school grounds which include air conditioned classrooms with interactive whiteboards, a fully outfitted computer lab, a new library with wonderful reading resources and new and exciting playground equipment.
