Established in 1880, Miles State School is home to approximately 220 students from both the town of Miles, and surrounding rural areas in the Miles District.
Miles State School caters to both boys and girls from Prep to Year 7, with students supported by 33 dedicated staff members.
Miles is a vibrant growing district in the Western Downs Regional Council area, supporting a wide range of industries. Cattle grazing, grain and cotton farming, feedlots, forestry and sawmilling, coal and coal seam gas exploration and distribution and bentonite mining all co-exist within the surrounds of the township.
Our school motto of “Strive to Achieve” is pertinent to our curriculum which has been designed to enhance both the needs of the community and the individual student.
Recent renovations to our playground on the Northern Side of the School include a fantastic paved life size chess board with shading and beautiful landscaping.
We were announced winners in the 2010 Showcase Awards for Excellence in Schools in the Early Phase of Learning with ‘All the Small Things’, a program designed to support our younger students with both speech and reading techniques.
